Inspiring communities to protect kea, the world's only mountain parrot

KEA CONSERVATION TRUST

The Kea has been the brand ambassador for Glenorchy Air since its beginnings in 1992. Maori gave the name Kea, describing the sound of its call ‘kee-aa’. Kea are considered a national kaitiaki, meaning a guardian or trustee of the mountains, and taonga, an object or natural resource which is highly prized.

We will be donating $1 per passenger who flys with us to Kea Conservation Trust who work in collaboration with others, to preserve and protect these unique birds, both in their natural habitat and through captive conservation programmes. Our donations will help and support on the ground, with field conservation, monitoring kea in Fiordland and protection of nests.

Actively promoting environmental awareness and marine conservation through sea floor and coastline clean-ups

GHOST DIVING NEW ZEALAND

Ghost Diving NZ is the New Zealand branch of an international organisation that collaborates worldwide to remove lost fishing gear from the seafloor and coastline. Ghost Dive NZ has embraced this concept and diversified to retrieve rubbish and debris as well as ‘ghost gear’ disposed of in New Zealand’s waters to protect marine life.

We are proud to support this Wellington based crew on their annual clean up mission in Fiordland National Park, an area of remote Fiordland you would think would be pristine, unfortunately not!!
