Capture a different perspective and Fly | Explore | Fly Milford Sound

Milford Sound has become one of the most visited places in New Zealand. For those who want to step away from the crowds we’ve launched a new product, Fly | Explore | Fly, to allow our customers to do Milford differently. Capture a different perspective. Discover spectacular pockets of silence where you can take a moment to enjoy the beauty with no one else around.

Lying deep within Fiordland National Park there is no doubt that Milford Sound is the country’s most stunning natural attraction. Its towering mountain peaks, waterfalls, and wildlife are some of the spectacles that give Milford its claim to fame. It really is a beauty and we love having the opportunity to share scenic flying and the Milford experience with our passengers.

You will have a window seat with unimpaired views as you fly to Milford Sound through a landscape of unbelievable grandeur and beauty. You’ll journey out over the Tasman Sea and through the fiord itself on the approach to land.

Take the opportunity to explore the shores of Milford with our three short walks. They will take you to unmissable vantage points and through awesome wilderness.

Start with Milford’s best kept secret, the Bowen Falls walk. A small boat will transport you to the track that winds its way round right to the base of plunging Lady Bowen Falls. Lady Bowen Falls is the tallest waterfall in Milford Sound. Experience this unique view from below, so close up that you’ll feel the spray in your face as the fresh water crashes the 162 metres falls.

Wander through beech forest and alongside the sandy shores of majestic Milford Sound on the boardwalks of the Foreshore Loop Track. This offers some of the best views of iconic Mitre Peak, standing a proud 1,692 metres above sea level. Learn more about the area through the interpretive visitor panels.

Afterwards, take a moment to enjoy the best seat in the house, the Milford Sound swing. You’ve probably seen the gorgeous photos on your Instagram feed.
